How we protect your privacy and handle data

Last updated: 7/13/2025

Privacy-First Design

Our fact-checking service is built with privacy by design. We collect minimal data, use privacy-preserving techniques, and don't track users across the web.

What Data We Collect

✅ Data We DO Collect

  • URL Analysis Requests: URLs you submit for fact-checking (temporarily processed, not stored)
  • Browser Characteristics: Non-personal browser data for rate limiting (User-Agent, language preferences)
  • Usage Analytics: Anonymous aggregate statistics to improve the service
  • Error Logs: Technical errors for debugging (no personal information)

❌ Data We DON'T Collect

  • No IP Address Tracking: We use privacy-preserving rate limiting
  • No Personal Information: No accounts, emails, or user profiles required
  • No Cookies: No tracking cookies or third-party trackers
  • No Content Storage: Article content is processed in memory and discarded
  • No Cross-Site Tracking: We don't follow you around the web

How We Use Data

Rate Limiting

Browser characteristics create anonymous fingerprints to prevent abuse while protecting privacy.

Service Improvement

Anonymous usage patterns help us understand which features are most valuable.

Technical Operations

Error logs help us maintain service reliability and fix issues quickly.

Privacy-Preserving Technology

Browser Fingerprinting

We create temporary, anonymous identifiers using browser characteristics (not personal data) for rate limiting. These are hashed and automatically expire.

Data Minimization

Article content is processed in real-time and immediately discarded. Only analysis results are cached temporarily for performance.

No Third-Party Tracking

We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking services.

Your Privacy Rights

Right to Information

This policy explains exactly what data we collect and why.

Right to Deletion

Most data is automatically deleted. Contact us for any concerns.

Right to Portability

Since we don't store personal data, there's nothing to export.

Right to Object

You can stop using the service at any time with no data trail.
